Nathan and the Plot
Nathan has been a wallbanger character for me - he's as manipulatable as the writers want him to be, and he has always struck me as a bit of a smug snake. He's generally thrust into situations where he could defuse everything (he's usually in power. the media seems to be pretty lax on their scandal-reporting in the Heroes universe), but he never does, which generates a bit of hate on my end. With him essentially controlling the organization that has provided most of the plot this season, I was a bit worried that the plot might resemble the character driving it. For now, my fears seem confirmed - Nathan's motivation is sketchy at best. I mean, honestly, he has the President on his side, and I don't think "People with powers are dangerous, man" would justify the creation of a secret Constitution-breaking organization. Now, yes, some are certainly threats to the welfare of the people around them, and Danko has been written as just obsessive enough to head the agency, but it still seems extreme. With the latest giant boom (possibly) revealed to be Parkman exploding, the plot seems to be wrapping itself up quickly. I'm sure that the next episode will introduce some new plot threads, but it really is absolutely annoying in the interminable gap between episodes.
Oh yes, Nathan. I like Nathan, I really do - but he's so hard to read, and has no clear goals. In that way, I suppose he's the most real character in the show... and again, the writers probably have heaps of characterization which they're ready to ladle at us in the upcoming episodes.
Unless, of course, he's killed in the bomb blast. Which shouldn't really happen, but you never know.
(also, I apologize for my absence - I was hospitalized, and then was subjected to a torrent of makeup work. not that y'all missed much, but eh)

HRG's Motives 2
The majority opinion is that we didn't learn that much about Noah Bennet in "Cold Wars," but I personally learned enough to quench my thirst and bring more questions to the table, like:- Does HRG really care about his family?
- Is the Company still going strong?
- What are HRG and Angela planning?
Second, it depends on how you define the Company. A couple of years ago, my church building burned down but the community continued to grow strong. Until the new church was built, the community continued to have Mass at various locations. If you define a Company by the state of it's headquarters, then the Company is dead. But if you define a Company by the state of it's members, I believe there's still some thinking, plotting, and scheming occurring at the hands of Angela and HRG.
Third, what are HRG and Angela planning? At this point, I can only guess. One thing I do find really love about where is character is going is the fact that he's not just doing this for the safety of his family. HRG can't just be a family man and the aspects of the Company are just as a part of his character as his glasses are. I'm very interested to see what happens from here one out with Angela and HRG. If the Company is pushing forward, how does the government fit into their plans?
